Many of the pictures on this site were uploaded from the old BVPP site. This exercise was carried out by the site administrators. Mace is one of the administrators and our technical expert whose only link with the prefabs is that his father-in-law lived there.

Hi David,

Good to hear back from you.

You were close saying my dad was a church minister. Actually he worked in sales in telecoms, however, he started a bible class in our home in 1952 which expanded to a sunday school in Belle Vale County Primary school that grow to 250 kids over the following years. He also ran two youth clubs which helped a lot of kids on the prefab estate. He died in ’86 and my mum unfortunately passed away three weeks ago.

They were good days growing up in the prefabs.

Hi John
I remember you too & the Joneses. However my memory mightn’t be as good as it used to be – I seem to remember that your Dad was either a policeman or a church minister? Wrong on both counts probably. I took my wife to have a look at Charlwood Road in the 70s and where our prefab used to be was a set of portaloos for the workmen building a shopping centre. We left Belle Vale in 1957 and moved to Sprigwood and I came to Oz in 1967 on my own.

I lived at number 51 Charlwood Rd from 1948-1964. I remember you well and see I’m the curly head lad in the forth picture down on the left with you, Robert and Norma Jones who lived next door. Hope you are well. I’ve lived in London since ’64.

Rosina I too have this photo as my mother was Rosaleen Smyth. Both my sister Monica and brother Jimmy worked at Blue Cap Foods Ltd. All my family have wonderful memories of friends, neighbours and growing up at 196 Cloverdale Road.

My mother worked in the staff canteen for quite a long time.Her name was Agnes Geeleher and she was scottish.We used to get lots of tins of spam and Irish stew.
